Melancholic sunday III
by Louie

I’m back! About a year ago I did some Melancholic Sunday posts here at lovely HejVen.se. Don’t know why i stopped all of a sudden! But I’m back now, and this time for good! I’m still a graphic design student, but only for a couple of more months. I’m currently living in The Hague, Holland where I do my internship at the coolest design agency, Trapped in Suburbia. But in one month I’m back in beautiful Copenhagen!
I’ve made a playlist for you to cure the hangover with. It’s nothing fancy, new, super-hipster-cool (although I DO like hipsters), it’s just some good mellow songs that i love listening too myself on a day like this.
Erik Enocksson – The joy of D.H. Lawrence (download)

A song from the beautiful Swedish movie Farväl Falkenberg. I don’t really know much about the guy, but I can only reccomend that you watch the movie – TODAY! A really good Sunday movie!
James Vincent McMorrow – Follow you down to the red oak tree (download)

I love this song. So much that in the four months I’ve known it, it has gotten in to the top 10 of my most listened to songs on iTunes. The guy is touring in Europe at the moment so keep your eyes open. The tickets go fast. He was playing at Paradiso in Amsterdam, but after just a couple of days the tickets were gone so i stayed home and worked instead. Baah.
Under Byen – Legesag (Mikael Simpson remix) (download)

Under Byen and Mikael Simpson. Match made in heaven! Nothing else to say really.
Joanna Newsom – Baby Birch (download)

If anyone has a cool voice, it’s her! And she plays the harpe! It sort of reminds me of medieval times, but even though I’ve always hated hearing about vikings, campfires and knights – this is still a really good song!’
Beirut – Postcards from Italy (download)

Untill last week I had never heard this song, untill a friend of mine sent it – AND I LOVE IT! Hel gezellig (as they say in Holland)
White Horse – Let those swim who can, the heavy may drown (download)

Cruel title, but so is the mood in this song. I’m not quite sure, but I think they’ve taken old gospel songs of dead singers, and remixed them. They’ve made 3 little albums with this concept, but of all the songs, this is by far my favorite.
Enjoy your sunday!
