Acid Danger

Share By Foss

So this just in on the mail box.

Acid Washed got remixed by French producer and DJ Danger.

I first fell in love with Danger when he remixed Kanye/Estelle’s “American Boy” back in the days. Since then you might have hear the awesome track “Divine” by Sébastien Tellier – it was a track from The Eurovision Song Contest in 2008.
But he also does original tracks though they have strange titles such as 00H00 and 14H54.

Acid Washed is new to me, introduced by Kjeld Tolstrup on the blog but the have a nice and dicso-ish feel! The remixed Hankat’s debut single “Be The First” not long ago.

Friday Bangers (week 34)

Share By Foss

Friday = Friday Bangers.

I’ll try to make it brief this time. I know you’re all sick of reading about the artist you are listening to..

Personal favorite remixer Foamo did a splendid remix of Franz Ferdinand‘s “No You Girls”. It’s kinda upbeat and playful. I love it.

The next two are certain club hits. Kylie Minogue with “All Her Lovers” in a remix by Michael Woods. Why this track? Kylie is freggin’ hot and this tune has a great melody although it might be a bit too club-ish and monotone in the beginning. But just wait for the chorus – it keeps on going!

Katy Perry seems to have the club and radio hits up her sleeve, and Barletta remixed her most recent (or is it? Can’t keep up!). Anyway it’s the one with the “California Girls”.

This next one is an Aussie remixing an Aussie. Trumpdisco remixing REgurgitatOR and the song is simply called “!”.

Last one is a personal apple of my eye. Hot Chip who you can hear live in Vega tonight got remixed by awesome Fake Blood. This is “Touch Too Mouch”.

Sunday Chill

Share By Foss

So the weekend is almost over and Sunday is a hangover day.

I decided to do a little digital cleanup and post a few tracks that’s been lying around for a while now but just didn’t fit in until now.

Pato Siebenhaar released a mixtape by the name “Black Cheese”. It’s supposed to be the first in a row, let’s see how that goes. He remixed danish international star Medina and it’s kinda dubstep-ish. Anyway it’s fresh with a catchy tune..

Next one is “The White Flash” by german Modeselektor. With Thom Yorke (no the “h” is not a mistake..) they did this little chill-out piece. Out own dark knight, Trentemøller did a remix of this (not a very good one though.)

Although it might be a bit too flashy and danceable for a sunday afternoon I really feel like posting this next track just because it’s awesome! Danish Eumig & Chinon recently released their EP “Crash” with 4 tracks on it. This is the title track “Crash” and boy is it flashy and funky. Make sure to stop by iTunes and buy the EP!

Jan Schipper is a hard man to find any info on but it seems that this dude creates what they call “spacesynth”. A pretty fitting name I reckon. It has a taste of some ol’ school italo to it, but is mainly synth! I don’t even know how it ended up on my desktop..

Friday Bangers (week 33)

Share By Foss

Yay! We are finally back with some action on the blog and this means friday bangers for your ears!

Canadian Tiga released his 2nd album, “Ciao!” in April 2009. From this album we find “What You Need”, a track that got remixed about a month ago by Chicago-based Midnight Conspiracy. They gave the mix a fitting title: “Summer of ’87 Remix”. It’s so 80′s, you might even break a sweat from moving your feed to the rhythm!

Moving 10 years forward in time we hit the classic “Brimful of Asha” by British Cornershop. Back then it was a major hit, remixed by Fatboy Slim among others. HeroesOfTheParty killed the waiting time for Toy Story 3 by doing this great remix.

Another classic hit is the Beastie Boys‘ “Sabotage”. Alex Metric who did the amazing “Stylo” remix had a take on this track and it turned out pretty good. A lot of distortion is on the way!

Youngest son of reggae king Bob Marley, Damian Marley worked together with hip-hopper Nas on this next track. Normally I’m not into hip-hop at all, but this track reminds me a bit more of dancehall and reggae than hip-hop. And the fact that Foamo remixed it was an eyeopener.

Last track this friday is a danish one! Nabiha had a huge radio hit with the track “Deep Sleep” so of course it was only a matter of time before someone did a club remix of this. This someone is British Bitrocka who is know for his remixes of Kylie Minogue and Sugarbabes. As a bonus info Nabiha was already discovered in 2006 and released tracks under the alias Tiger Lily.

SoC 5 Release Party @ Jazzhouse

Share By Foss

Okaaaaay! So it’s been a slow summer on the blog with too little music a too many beers in the sun (or rather rain because it’s Denmark)..
But that has come to an end now! We are back on track with new music and much more.

The danish DJs, radio hosts and Hejven.se darlings Kjeld Tolstrup and Le Gammeltoft released their FIFTH compilation in the Sound of Copenhagen series a week ago (12th august).

We’ve already presented you to some of the music on the new CD, Hankat‘s “Be the First” (here).
But somehow we feel that you should get another tasty bite of this delicious release.

With a whole of seven debuting artists on the tracklist this is truly the upcoming and soon-to-be’s of the Danish nightlife.

A personal favorite is the Kasper Winding remix of long-haired french indie disco guru Sébastien Tellier’s “Elle”. Even though it’s a slow track it has a charm and a melody that Kasper preserves while he still adds his personal touch to it.

Sebastien Tellier – Elle (Kasper Winding Remix) (download) (buy)

Another great track comes from Mew, the beloved band in most of Asia. Their track “Beach” got remixed by dark tech house/minimal alchemist Anders Trentemøller.
